Using reports, exports, and zones
Reports and exports
Netmore Go provides two ways to retrieve historical device data:
- Reports summarize device data over a period. For example, a report can calculate hourly or daily values from many individual measurements. Reports can also be scheduled and distributed automatically.
- Exports retrieve the original device measurements without report-level summarization. Use exports when the data requires further analysis.
Fields, roles, and semantics
- Field: A time-series datapoint in Netmore Go, such as temperature, humidity, battery voltage, a counter, status, or location. Each field has a data type, readable name, unique identifier, and, where relevant, a unit.
- Field type: Determines how the value is stored and how report summaries are calculated. Common types include Integer, Float, String, Boolean, Counter, and Geolocation.
- Field role: Determines how Netmore Go uses a field in the interface. Examples include Primary or Secondary values and, for tracking devices, Device Location. Roles are used by lists, maps, and other views.
- Semantic: Describes what a measurement means, such as Temperature, Humidity, CO2, Fill Level, Soil Moisture, Ambient Light, or Energy Consumption. Semantics allow Netmore Go to recognize equivalent measurements across products and build workspace KPIs, overviews, and semantic-based filtering.
Create a scheduled report
- Open Reports from the workspace sidebar and select Add Report.
- Enter a report name.
- Select the Simple CSV report type.
- Set the schedule and correct time zone. Reports can be configured for recurring exports such as hourly, daily, or weekly.
- Select or filter the required devices.
- Choose the measurement fields to include.
- Set the historical time range and resolution. The resolution controls how measurements within each interval are summarized.
- Choose whether the output contains one CSV file per device or combines all selected devices into one file.
- Add report recipients if the export must be delivered by email.
- Configure the filename if required.
- Save the report.
- Run it manually once to verify the content before relying on the schedule.
Previous report files can be downloaded from the report details.
Resolution and field type
- Numeric Integer and Float fields are averaged over the selected resolution interval.
- Counter fields use the counter summary configured for the report.
- Boolean fields use the value occurring most often in the interval.
- Geolocation uses the location around the middle of the interval.
Choose a resolution that matches the operational purpose of the report. A very coarse resolution can hide short events or peaks.

Zones
Zones are geographic geofences used to organize and monitor tracking devices by location. They are mainly useful for moving assets and devices whose coordinates change over time.
Configure and use zones
- Ensure that the product has a field of type Geolocation.
- Assign the Device Location role to this field. This role is different from a field semantic and is required for maps and zones.
- Open Zones from the workspace sidebar.
- Create the required geographic areas.
- Monitor devices with valid location updates against these zones.
The Zones overview shows information such as the number of zones and devices currently inside them.
If required, use the Rules Engine to trigger actions when a device enters a zone, leaves a zone, or remains inside a zone longer than a defined period. Zone tags can limit rules to particular groups of zones.
Stationary devices can have a manually configured location for map display, but zone entry and exit automation is meaningful only when the device location changes.
