State-of-the-art Operational Support System

OSS Network (gateways) Management
  • Provision, configure, administrate and supervise LoRaWAN® Base Stations.

  • Ready-to-use Base Station catalog, supporting BS models from all the leading gateway manufacturers.

  • Ready-to-use RF Region catalog, supporting all the LoRaWAN® regional profiles; including optimized RF channel plans and radio configuration parameters.

  • A large set of UX-oriented features: BS tagging, list filtering, locate BS on map...

  • Both stationary and mobile base stations (for drive-by/walk-by use cases) are supported.

  • Rich set of hourly and daily metrics/graphs to monitor radio, WAN backhaul and system performances.

    • Radio metrics: On-time vs. Late uplink frame distribution, Downlink success vs. failed distribution (with error causes), beacon transmission status, duty cycle and RF statistics (SNR, RSSI, Estimated Signal Power (ESP) per RF Logical Channel...

    • WAN backhaul metrics: round-trip latency and traffic volume/bitrate per network interface (for both uplink and downlink), quality of the cellular 3G/4G backhaul link ...

    • System metrics: RAM/CPU/Filesystem statistics.

  • Base Station alarm notification about malfunction situations: connection error, GPS down, beacon transmission failure, high usage of CPU/RAM/Disk resources, saturation of radio capacity, low UL activity, replay attack detection... Several notification options are supported: email, SNMP (Self-hosted only) and through IoT Flow connections (as of TPE release 7.3).

  • Remote Base Station administration:

    • Secure remote access through ThingPark GUI (using reverse SSH)

    • Remote upgrade of LRR software.

    • Remote backup and restore, LRR restart, BS reboot, activation of local traces...

  • RF cell coverage: Map and list views of devices connected to a given base station, with their RF statistics. Very useful to build Network Coverage Heatmaps.

OSS Device Management
  • Provision, configure, administrate and supervise LoRaWAN® Devices.

  • Ready-to-use Device Profile catalog, including generic profiles + vendor-specific models from over 100 LoRaWAN® device manufacturers.

  • Ready-to-use Payload driver catalog, allowing the decoding/encoding of uplink/downlink application payloads for more than 120 device manufacturers.

  • Custom payload drivers: Customers can upload their own custom drivers into ThingPark (through the TPX Iot Flow engine), with an easy association with corresponding devices through the GUI/API.

  • A large set of UX-oriented features: Device tagging, list filtering, locate devices on map, send downlink from the GUI...

  • Low-touch device provisioning by scanning LoRaWAN® QR code.

  • Bulk provisioning through mass import of device list.

  • Per-device activation of value-added features: roaming, network geolocation...

  • Several device activation modes: ABP, OTAA with local Join Server, OTAA with external Join Server.

  • Rich set of hourly and daily metrics/graphs to monitor device performance.

    • Radio metrics: On-time vs. Late uplink frames, Downlink success vs. failed status, RF statistics (Packet Error Rate, SNR, RSSI, Estimated Signal Power (ESP))

    • Device health: initialization/active/connection error, battery status...

  • Device alarm notification about malfunction situations: weak battery, device does not respect ADR commands, device continuously rejects (or does not answer) a specific MAC command, no UL activity for X (configurable) hours, replay attack detection... Several notification options are supported: email, SNMP (Self-hosted only) and through IoT Flow connections (as of TPE release 7.3).

  • Multicast Management: Configuration and supervision of multicast groups for both class B and class C modes.

OSS Application Management
  • Provision and configure connections towards Application Servers (AS).

  • Scalable set of Cloud Connectors towards all the leading IoT platforms: AWS, Azure, Watson, ThingWorx, Cumulocity, etc...

  • Besides connectors towards cloud IoT platforms, the following generic connectors are supported:

    • Basic HTTPS (including reporting of the "delivery to app" status on ThingPark GUI)

    • MQTT

    • AMQP

  • Easy activation/deactivation of each AS Connection through the GUI/API.

  • Application metrics:

    • Detection of overloaded AS (for Basic HTTP connections)

    • Real-time health state

    • Hourly/daily traffic metrics

User Management
  • Permissions: Multiple user roles: Administrator, Devices and Connections Manager, Base Stations Manager, Read-only.

  • Authentication: Standard OAuth v2 authentication flows.

    • [Self-hosted]: Delegation of end-user authentication to third-party Identity Providers (OpenID Connect).

    • [SaaS]: Enforced login security through 2-factor authentication.

  • Multitenancy:

    • Fully-segregated multi-subscription in TPE SaaS.

    • Flexible definition of administrative domains to isolate end-user permissions across tenants using the same TPE subscription (as of TPE release 7.2).

Several cartography options
  • Google maps

  • OpenStreet maps

  • Baidu maps
