Monitoring the multicast group performance
Locating base stations associated with a multicast group
On an interactive map, you can visually locate the base stations associated with the multicast group and quickly access for each one the base station details page and the base station alarms page.
-
In the left panel, select Multicast Groups, then search for the multicast group you want to view.
-
In the LOCATION widget, all base stations associated with the multicast group are displayed on a map. Each base station icon is colored according to the base station's health state.
importantA base station in initialization state using Onboard Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) position cannot display on the map because it has not yet reported its position. For more information, see Base station health states.
-
Click a base station icon to view its LRR-ID and tag.
-
If a base station belongs to your subscription, click the LRR ID link to open its dashboard.
Checking the radio traffic history of a multicast group
You can see the last multicast downlinks as daily or hourly totals for the last 7 or 15 days.
-
In the left panel, select Multicast Groups, then search for the multicast group you want to view.
-
In RADIO TRAFFIC HISTORY widget:
-
Packets tab displays the number of multicast downlink packets.
-
Payloads tab displays the accumulated size of multicast downlink payloads in bytes.
noteA multicast downlink packet/payload counts as 1 whatever the number of transmissions over the air
-
-
The following line charts are displayed:
Delivery status Color Percentage of successful downlink transmissions Downlink fully sent 100% Downlink partially sent ≥ 80% Downlink partially sent ≥ 30% and < 80% Downlink partially sent < 30%
Note Downlink partially sent (< 30%) is considered if no base station was associated with the multicast group when the multicast downlink was transmitted.TipsUse the
at the top right of the widget to set the required time scale.
You can visualize this graph up to the last 15 days, using daily or hourly aggregations. You may mask an item from the graph by clicking it in the legend.
Checking the last multicast summary reports
You can see the last multicast summary reports. For more details about multicast summary reports see Multicast summary reports.
-
In the left panel, select Multicast Groups, then search for the multicast group you want to view.
-
Go to LAST MULTICAST SUMMARY REPORTS.
-> Up to 10 last multicast summary reports are displayed.
tipThis widget supports live updates with auto-refresh every 10 seconds, removing the need for manual refresh. To avoid disturbing the display when the user unfolds a row for details, the live update is paused if any row is expanded; then it gets automatically resumed once all the rows are collapsed.
-
In the Type column, you can see a graphical representation of the type of multicast summary report. Hover your mouse on each badge to get more details on the displayed value. To learn more, see Multicast summary report.
-
You may select which columns are displayed or hidden, by clicking the
button at the top-right corner of the widget. To export the list, click
.
-
If a report is aborted, click
to expand the summary of the final report. The distribution of failure causes is displayed in a table.
Possible transmission failure causes are:
- Ax: Transmission slot busy
- Bx: Too late
- Dx: DC or Gateway constraint
- Ex: Frame expired before transmission
- Fx: Multicast transmission failure
-
To view more multicast summary reports than the last 10 displayed in this widget, click SHOW ALL at the bottom of the widget.
-> This takes you to the Wireless Logger application to view the entire traffic history and get additional details.
