Managing the license

If you have an Administrator role, then you can manage the license and run the following procedures.

License characteristics

Maximum authorized number of devices and base stations

The license determines the maximum number of devices and base stations that you can provision.

Depending on your subscription, your license can be limited to a specific number of devices and base stations or an unlimited number.

If you are not authorized to add an unlimited number of objects, the license widget displays the upper limit, as well as the remaining credit between parenthesis.

This is valid for both self-hosted and SaaS modes.

Expiration date

Each self-hosted or ThingPark SaaS subscription is associated with a license expiration date. The amount of time that you have before your license expires is displayed in the license's widget.

If the license is missing or has expired, zero is displayed in the devices' or base stations' widget. Once your license has expired, your access to ThingPark enterprise services switches to read-only mode. Hence, you cannot do any further addition, update or deletion operations on this network except renewing your license.

Banners

Banners are used to indicate the expiration date and validity. A banner is displayed on the top of the User Interface in different situations.

If the license is valid and expires in more than 30 days, no banner displays on your screen; no action is required on your part.

The next table gives you an overview of actions to initiate in case of license expiration.

Description of the banner	Actions required
A banner displays to tell you that your license will soon expire.	You must contact your Channel Partner to renew your subscription and obtain a new license. In the case of a self-hosted platform, you will have to upload your license file. In the case of a SaaS platform, your license file will be automatically uploaded.
A banner displays to tell you that your license has expired for less than 3 months.	You have a grace period where the service continues to work. The device data is still delivered to applications. On the other hand you can no longer edit anything, that is, you can no longer create any device, base station etc…. You must urgently contact your Channel Partner to renew your subscription as above.
A banner displays to tell you that your license has expired for more than 3 months.	The delivery of device data to your applications is interrupted since all your connections towards applications are automatically deactivated by the system. The device data is no longer sent to applications. The renewal of your license becomes even more urgent if you want to restart the service.

Uploading the ThingPark Enterprise license key in self-hosted mode

1. Click Administration -> Control Panel and go to LICENSE.
2. In the window that opens, click UPDATE LICENSE.
3. In the next window, upload the license key that has been provided to you and click UPDATE.

In the next widget you can also view how many devices and base stations that still can be provisionned under the same license.

To extend the capacity of your license, redo Step 1 to Step 3.

Viewing the ThingPark Enterprise license key in SaaS mode

In SaaS mode the license is acquired and renewed through Actility Central. Your System Integrator will activate your license key with the subscription of your choice.

After activating your license key, the license widget will display the number of devices and base stations that are included in your license as well as the expiration date (See widget above).
