Connecting your base stations to ThingPark

ThingPark supports a wide variety of LoRaWAN® base stations, with two different packet forwarders:

  • ThingPark's Long Range Relay (LRR) is the recommended packet forwarder, thanks to its very rich set of radio and O&M functions that are homogeneously supported across all gateway models.
  • Semtech's Basics Station packet forwarder.

To learn more about the base stations compatible with each packet forwarder, see Supported brands of base stations.

The following video illustrates the different steps required to connect your base station to ThingPark, including the provisioning and configuration steps on ThingPark's user interface:

Connecting with LRR packet forwarder

If your base station model is compatible with ThingPark's LRR packet forwarder, follow these steps to connect it to ThingPark:

  1. Install the LRR image
  2. Configure the LRR
  3. Add your base station to your ThingPark account.
  4. Backup your base station configuration.
caution

Ensure you have authorized the base station flows between your base station environment and ThingPark, as described in Authorizing base station flows.

If your base station could not come up online after being configured and provisioned, see some debug tips in Troubleshooting connectivity issues.

Connecting with Basics Station packet forwarder

If your base station model only supports Semtech's Basics Station packet forwarder, follow these steps to connect it to ThingPark:

  1. Install the Basics Station binary compiled specifically for your gateway model. To learn more, contact your gateway vendor.
  2. Configure your Basics Station to connect to ThingPark
